I used to think 3D printing, designing, and modeling was only something that could be done by engineers and that it was only done in a professional like setting. Never did I think that it was something I would get the chance to do in a school setting.
Tinkercad was our first experience in 3d modeling, and we were each assigned to create a very simple object. I created a basic keychain of my name. I could easily see the final product in my head, but I had to walk through all the steps to be able to bring my vision to life in a model and this involved a lot of measuring and placement to be perfect.
When my design was finally being printed, I was so excited. It was my first digital design that I was printing.
I had so much more confidence holding that keychain. It was different to hold something that wasn’t a school assignment that didn’t have a grade attached to it.
I felt a sense of relief and freedom and a new opportunity to use my creativity when I stored that keychain inside my backpack.
